Pomos Village (Paphos)
Pomos
Pomos is a quaint fishing village located on the west coast of
Paphos, 20 kilometres from Polis centre and approximately 75 minutes
drive from Paphos airport.
As yet untouched by commercialisation therefore the pace of life is
typically Mediterranean and relaxed.
The scenery of the Pomos region is spectacular due to the dramatic
contrast from lush green mountains home to pine and Cypress trees, wild
flowers, fruit trees and water melons growing wild.
The Pomos beaches are a combination of sand and stone and appear black
in colour with many rock pools ideal for exploration and fishing.
The small harbour of Pomos is the central focal point of local
life with fishing boats laden with nets and the catch of the day. Next
to the harbour is a long stretch of beach with cliffs to one side
offering shade and protection from the wind
To the right of the harbour is the fish Taverna called Kanali which is
renowned for excellent fresh fish dishes. Locals will travel from as far
as Nicosia to participate in their mouth watering culinary delights such
as barbecued octopus, sea bream, snapper, king prawn and much more. The
fish meze is also a must where a selection of fish is served accompanied
with salads, dips, vegetables and washed down with wine.
The small village centre offers a choice of restaurants, a coffee shop,
supermarket and bank.
